The San Anselmo Library will continue to be funded by property taxes. While it is undeniable that this is a regressive way to fund services, and we wish that libraries could be funded adequately, the community has long suffered from a tax system that favors the wealthy and large corporations, so we support a fair and equitable tax system that allows the next generation, regardless of class, to enjoy quality public education and public services. For now, ensuring that the community has the resources it needs is paramount, and this property tax is an unavoidable choice.
