Corte Madera currently taxes property owners to fund emergency medical services. This measure continues the current tax, making no changes. While it is undeniable that this is a regressive funding mechanism, and we wish that medical services could be adequately funded otherwise, our community has long suffered from an unfair tax system that favors the wealthy and large corporations. Therefore, we support a fair and equitable tax system that allows the next generation to enjoy quality public education and public services regardless of their background. For now, ensuring the community has the resources it needs is paramount, and this property tax is the unavoidable choice.
