The City of Fairfax currently levies a parcel tax for emergency medical services. This measure continues the current tax exactly as it is. While it is undeniable that this is a regressive way to raise money, and we wish that emergency medical services could be funded adequately, the community has long suffered from an unfair tax system that favors the wealthy and large corporations, so we support a fair and equitable tax system that allows the next generation, regardless of class or background, to enjoy quality public education and public services. For now, ensuring that the community has the resources it needs is the priority, and this parcel tax is an unavoidable choice.
