Vote Nikki Fortunato Bas for Supervisor!
Bay Rising Action is thrilled to announce our endorsement of Nikki Fortunato Bas for Alameda County Supervisor! Look out for her on the March 5th primary election ballot.
Nikki has been an advocate for working people for over two decades. As a lifelong community organizer, nonprofit director, Filipina-American, and working Mom, she believes in a future for the East Bay where every family is healthy, safe, and housed.
From her early days as a community organizer in Chinatown, to her work as Executive Director of East Bay Alliance for Sustainable Economy, to her current position as Oakland City Council President, Nikki has always stood by her values.
In this time of unprecedented housing and homelessness crisis, we deserve leaders who will courageously advocate for the people of Alameda County. Nikki brings a proven track record of doing just that.
As an elected official, Nikki’s numerous accomplishments include:
- Leading efforts to help secure $350,000,000 for up to 2,400 housing units for homeless and working families
- Establishing a $14,000,000 Fund to assist low-income housing insecure tenants to purchase homes
- Expanding violence prevention and anti-sex trafficking programs
- Launching Fire Department mobile crisis teams to address mental health and 911 calls
- Convincing Oakland to begin updating its outdated business tax structure so that small businesses can thrive
As our County Supervisor, Nikki’s priorities will be the “three H’s”: Homelessness, Housing, and Healthcare. She believes bold leadership is necessary to end homelessness, expand job creation, and provide comprehensive mental health/substance abuse programs and transitional housing.
Here at Bay Rising Action, we support Nikki Fortunato Bas for Supervisor because of her progressive, values-aligned leadership – which places economic justice at its core.
Nikki’s deep belief in governing with residents and equitable democracy is evident in her principled partnerships with community organizations and the accomplishments we have won together. We believe that we can continue to work with her to advance transformational county policies on budget transparency, tenant protections and economic recovery.
