Liz Ortega comes from an immigrant family and has been actively involved in labor activism for a long time, achieving significant success in fighting for workers' rights, and possesses good and influential relationships and experience. Her undocumented mother brought 3-year-old Liz and her family to the state in search of a better life. Her family's struggles have influenced and guided Liz's values and work. As the first Latina to be elected Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Alameda Labor Council, she is dedicated to uniting workers and fighting alongside them for better wages, paid sick leave, and healthcare for East Bay workers. Liz Ortega has dedicated her career to the working-class rights movement in Alameda County, and we know she will bring that same advocacy to the State Assembly.
