This measure continues a parcel tax for essential fire services. While it is undeniably a regressive funding mechanism, and we wish fire services were adequately funded, the community has long lived under an unfair tax system that favors the wealthy and large corporations. Therefore, we support a fair and equitable tax system that provides quality public schools and public services for the next generation, regardless of their background. For now, ensuring the community has the resources it needs is paramount, and this parcel tax is the unavoidable choice.
