Currently, our city rules keep some of the most qualified people who can help lead our community stuck on the sidelines simply because of the place of their birth. This measure would eliminate those barriers, and allow anyone to serve on city boards and commissions regardless of their immigration status. It would also remove gender-restrictive language from the city charter.
