The school district can increase its funding through bond revenue. Issuing bonds is undeniably a regressive way to raise money, indebting the public and involving the financial industry in democratic processes. We wish that all public spaces were adequately funded. However, the community has long lived under an unjust tax system that favors the wealthy and large corporations, so we support a fair and just tax system that allows the next generation, regardless of their socioeconomic background, to enjoy quality public education and public services. For now, ensuring that the community has access to the resources it needs is paramount, and issuing bonds is an unavoidable choice.
