Public libraries are an essential part of the city. They are a necessity for many families, young people, and all San Franciscans who rely on libraries for free resources.
This measure extends the Library Preservation Fund for 25 years, allows the city to freeze minimum library funding during budget shortfalls exceeding $300 million, and allows for extended minimum operating hours at the Main Library and 27 branches. The measure allows libraries to expand services to meet community needs. If Proposition F fails, libraries will reduce hours, cut resources, and close branches.
