Cameron Sasai

Because there was a leadership void to fill, Cameron Sasai ran for public office in Pinole. When city council members were unwilling to take any action on racial injustice affecting Black and Brown families in Pinole, Cameron decided to run for Pinole City Council during the pandemic. During this time, he and his family and community felt the impact of anti-Asian crime. Cameron pushed for the Pinole City Council to establish community-led police accountability, report and prevent hate crimes, and other racial equity and equal protection initiatives. He has seen firsthand how solutions that benefit the people of Pinole are sidelined by incompetent leaders. Cameron is committed to developing policies that truly benefit the city of Pinole, its people, and the planet.
